There is no difference between value and growth investing, we just value growth.
Derrick Gut is Portfolio Manager at Pembroke, specializing in international and global equities. With over a decade of cross-border public equity experience, he applies deep analytical rigour and a disciplined valuation framework to identify growth-oriented opportunities.
Derrick co-manages Pembroke’s International Growth Strategy and plays a central role in expanding the firm’s global equity platform. His leadership was instrumental in Pembroke’s in-house transition of this strategy in 2025.
Before joining Pembroke, Derrick managed the Global Small/Mid Cap Strategy at Jarislowsky Fraser, focusing on bottom-up equity analysis. Earlier, he worked at an independent Canadian investment firm steeped in a natively long-term concentrated investing style, further refining his skill at uncovering quality growth businesses. Derrick also served nearly five years as a senior analyst and co-manager of the U.S. Equities Fund at Mirabaud Group, a private Swiss bank.
Derrick began his career in the assurance group at PricewaterhouseCoopers and later transitioned into equity research at Scotia Capital, where he covered special situations.
Beyond his investment role, Derrick is an adjunct lecturer in the Graduate Accountancy program at Concordia University, sharing his finance and accounting expertise with future professionals. He also serves on the Client Committee of the Kenneth Woods Portfolio Management Program, at Concordia University.
